TURKEY: it is a nation with a great ceramic tradition (whose roots can be traced back at least to the 8th and 9th centuries), many ceramic centers and numerous decorations in a history spanning centuries.
For some years now, relations with universities and cities have been established, in particular through the professor of the University of Izmir and ceramist Sevim Cizer and recently through the ‘wmn&ART’ project.
Since the end of 2020, a very fruitful relationship has been activated with Kütahya (an important ceramic center in western Turkey, with over 230,000 inhabitants) and through the mediation of UCLG (United Cities and Local Governments, an organization that brings together cities, local governments and regional and municipal associations) some operational meetings were held, during which the experience of the individual national associations and AEuCC was illustrated.
Now a path has started that is deepening the possibility of the birth of the Turkish national association AtrCC with the usual support of experiences and ideas also provided by other associations (by Giuseppe Olmeti, Oriol Calvo, Charles Fillit).
Technical work is underway with a team consisting of Mehmet Zenci (Director of the Projects Department of Kütahya and the official representative of Kütahya), supported by Osman Çorumlu (Coordinator of the UCLG-MEWA Culture and Tourism Committee) and Pinar Adanali (consultant of Kütahya Municipality) and which currently involves 4 Cities (Kutahya, Iznik, Canakkale and Avanos) whose expansion to 7 is expected shortly.
